The District 8CR, Flotilla 7-11, Team Hunter
coxswain Grady Hunter and crew members Curt Broomfield and Ray Paul
Mr. Hunter (AuxOps), an 8 year USCGA member, is currently DSO – Member Training, FSO – Personnel Services, and District Team Coordination Facilitator. He was past FSO – Public Education for 5 years. Grady spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Force and has a host of hobbies that keep him busy when he is not on the water, including hiking, travel, writing, and photography. He enjoys mentoring, training, and assisting new members. Grady has three daughters and one son (all Texas A&M graduates) and two grandchildren.
Mr. Broomfield has been a
USCGA member for 2 years. Currently, Curt is FSO – Public Affairs. Prior to
joining Flotilla 7-11, Curt focused energies on his own businesses. Curt spent
ten years in the U.S. Marines, with two years of that at sea. He has over thirty
years of boating experience. Curt was Past President of Rotary in
Mr. Paul has been in the USCGA for 5 years. Currently, Ray is SO – Member Services. Previously, he was FSO – Member Services and FSO – Information Services. He enjoys all aspects of the Auxiliary and has enjoyed spending lots of time on the water. His hobbies are fishing, shooting, and tinkering with just about anything. Ray has been married for 28 years and has three grown sons.
The District 8CR, Flotilla 7-11, Team Walker
coxswain Monica Walker and crew members Brenda Paul and John Gravell Monica Walker is Coxswain of one of DSAR's Team for Division 7 D8CR. She joined Flotilla 7-11 in 1999. Since that time, she has been FSO-SR, FSO-MS, SO-MS, FC, and is currently the Vice Captain at Division 7. She is qualified as an Instructor and as an Air Observer, currently working towards aircrew, and then pilot qualification. She has acquired AUXOP status and was presented the AUXOP medal by Rear Admiral Joel Whitehead at the District Meeting in February, 2008. Last year she was Logistic Chief at the DSAR competition held at Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi for 8 th District. She is married and has two extended families. She also holds a full time position at Texas A&M University-CC. The University encourages her service and commitment to her country. Her interests are in boating, flying and dancing. Brenda Paul is a five (5) year USCGA member and is currently SO-Publication Services, publishing “Sailing with 7”. She is qualified in Aids to Navigation and Boat Crew Member. She was FSO-Finance from 2004-2007, FSO-Secretary/Records from 2004 -2006 and FSO-Communication Services from 2005–2007. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Cable Splicing Technician in 1997. Besides being on the water both in the Auxiliary and for pleasure, Brenda enjoys cross-stitching, scrap booking, fishing, and cooking. She has been married for 28 years to Ray Paul. Her pride and joy are their three (3) fantastic, grown sons and five (5) grandchildren. John Gravell has been in the Auxiliary for five (5) years as a member of Flotilla 79 D8CR. He is qualified as a Vessel Examiner, Program Visitor, Instructor, Boat Crew, Air Observer, ATON Verifier and has successfully passed the APC course. He spends his time caring for his sick and elderly parents, volunteering for the USCGA and the Texas State Guard. He also does a lot of other volunteer activities in the community. He is married and has one son.

Marshall Bullard has been an Auxiliary member for 19 years and a Coxswain for nearly that long. Active in many Auxiliary programs, Marshall’s first love is Operations. He is currently serving as DSO-Operations and Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 16-2 (Tulsa area). He is the only non pilot o the team. Marshall also enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and watching football and basketball. He is married with two children.
David Starr has been a member of the USCGAUX for 10 years. He currently serves as DCP 16 8-WR, DSO-AV 8-WR, AuxAir First Pilot, and is active as FSO-PV. As an avocation, David has a great interest in aviation. However, when participating in the Auxiliary Aviation Program he believes it important that flight crew members should be familiar with Surface Operations. It is that belief that caused him to become qualified as Boat Crew, and that in turn led to training for the DSAR competition. David resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is self employed, married, and has two daughters
